Predictive analytics involves making predictions about unknown future events based on historical and real-time consumer data. At BMW, our motto is “The Ultimate Driving Machine”, but driving is not just about power and performance, it is about creating the "Ultimate Driving Experience". Predictive analytics can help do this, however, the challenge is how to create a predictive analytics platform that is scalable, flexible, predictable and provides personalized content and context to the driver.
We present a case study where we have created a predictive analytics platform to help power our machine learning algorithms used in our BMW Connected product. We show how our solution is an ideal platform for predictive analytics for the connected car, and describe the metrics that we use to evaluate the performance of our machine learning algorithms, and for predicting driver behavior.
