Intellectual Collaboration for VR: Coopetition & Universal User Acquisitionby Cindy Mallory

We all grew up reading cyberpunk adventures just waiting for the day we could slip on some haptic gloves and jack in. Heilig crafted reality out of fiction with the advent of the Sensorama in the 1950’s. A decade later, the inventor patented the first HMD, dubbed the Telesphere Mask. Flash forward to the emergence of the VR ecosystem war fought by billion dollar corporations peddling high tech gear while promising an olive branch of open source virtual utopia, just not right now.
The trigger is cocked on the uptake of technology, known to us as the technology trigger, with innovation and adoption graphically represented on the Gartner Hype Cycle at a place of high expectation.
We are all on tenterhooks waiting for the premium content that drives mass adoption of this new technology. With a niche user pool of early adopters and relatively low expectancy on positive profit flow….game studios are helping each other out. Youtube tutorials, programming websites, discord groups, art forums...they all conglomerate into a database of coopetitive knowledge sharing. When that studio across the pond creates a game that pulls the trigger a little bit more, we all succeed.
