How We Create an Internet of Things: The Integral Role of Unlicensed Spectrum in the Connected Futureby Panel Session
Big Data Panel Session
Unlicensed spectrum is the basis upon which the Internet of Things has been built, and is how the connected devices that we have come to know and love communicate. These technologies provide massive societal benefits, from connected cars and smart cities to smart homes and connected coffee makers. But with 25 billion IoT devices expected to be deployed by 2020, we must ensure that there is adequate unlicensed spectrum available to allow for expansion and innovation in the IoT space. In this panel session, we will discuss the integral role that unlicensed spectrum plays in IoT development, some of the specific ways that unlicensed-based IoT technologies have improved our lives, as well as some of the ways in which the US government can free up additional unlicensed spectrum to keep up with the growing demand for all things IoT.
